Minn Kota Modified PowerDrive Legacy Drive Housing Assembly

The original Legacy Drive Housing Assembly has been discontinued and is no longer available from Minn Kota.  However we have figured out how to modify a newer Drive Housing Assembly to fit in the original extrusion.  We will perform the modification before shipping the part out and it will act as a direct replacement of the original part.

Fits the following Minn Kota trolling motor models:

  • Minn Kota Power Drive and PD models from 2001 - 2007
  • Minn Kota Power Drive w/ Auto Pilot and PD/AP models from 2001 - 2007.

All drive housings for pre 2001 Power Drive motors have been discontinued and are no longer available from Minn Kota.  However, you can upgrade to this drive housing by simply changing the spade terminals that connect this unit to the control board with bullet terminals.

Old Part Numbers that will allow you to upgrade to this Drive Housing:  

  • 2301834
  • 2301840
  • 2301842

This Drive Housing will NOT work with PD/V2 models.  PD/V2 models will need p/n 2771826.

I recently purchased a new steering control for my 2005 MinnKota PowerDrive. Since this is an older unit Northland offers a direct replacement which worked perfectly. What amazed me most was how quickly I received my order. I had a fishing trip planned and I received the order with plenty of time to install and test before my trip.

A great purchase

I have an old 765 MX Powerdrive. It's from the early 90s and has worked well. Early this year the servo motor and turns the unit siezed up. Could not find a replacement(actually bought one that was supposed to work and didn't). I was ready to toss it, but then asked Northland about a fix. They were great and suggested this unit. I ordered it, installed it in about 20 mins and it works perfect!

It was an easy decision... pay $107 to fix this one that otherwise works great, or pay over $1000 for a new one.

Perfect replacement

With a worldwide shortage updating my 2005 PowerDrive was out of the question. Replacing the drive housing was easy and the trolling motor works perfectly. Once things come back in stock the motor will be moved to a different boat for many more years of service. Thank you Northland for coming up with a solution that not only saves money but allows you to still be out on the water. I am a customer for life now. I almost forgot to mention the FAST shipping, ordered Monday and the part was delivered and installed on Thursday.
