I was WRONG!

I found that my improper stowage of a 2008 Terrova allowed water to get into the steering housing and cause rust damage to the steering motor. It was irreparably rusted and frozen solid. The trolling motor is in otherwise great condition but I expect new parts to be impossible to find. I was wrong!
After getting on the Minn Kota website and downloading the still available manual for my 2008. The parts diagram then gave me the original part numbers for my vintage unit and the suggested supplier (Northland Marine) had an updated part number AND the motor, bearings and seals were available. The new steering motor was incredibly cheap, brand new and came fitted with a new pinion gear, wiring with the proper wire ends already attached and a strain guard for the pigtail. Also ordered was a complete seal and bearing kit for the steering box and…everything fit precisely! All parts and shipping were $61.00 TOTAL. MK…how can you do this? How can you stock quality parts for such vintage models at such low prices? I’m back fishing with my same superior unit with a minor cash outlay instead of having to replace the entire trolling motor. Thanks MK and Northland Marine!
